A Smart tag to look up IP addresses in Excel

I have been using Analog to analyze my log files (with QuickDNS), but it doesn’t quite do what I want, so I have written an Excel macro that opens a log file, deletes undesired entries such as bot IPs and theme gifs and creates a pivot table. The program is customized for me (the log file is the Combined Log Format).

I use a smart tag that corresponds to the MOSTL (Microsoft Office Smart Tag List) specification. Smart tags add a small triangle to a recognized entry, which is an IP address in this case. One has 5 options in this smart tag, look up the IP address from any of four regions, or find out to which country the IP address belongs.

Also make sure that smart tags are enabled. Click on Tools / AutoCorrect options / Smart tags and check the box "label data with smart tags".
