IFTF Sales

INSTALLATION (Windows 2000 and XP) - Note: IFTF has not been tested with Windows Vista and is not currently supported under Windows Vista

IFTF should be installed by someone with administrator privileges. Double click the file IFTF.exe. This will unzip 8 files to the directory C:/IFTF. Then double click the file setup.exe and follow the prompts. During installation, setup will determine if the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 has been installed. If Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 installation is required, a Windows 2000 machine may need to be restarted. If restarting is needed the person with administrative privileges should log on again. Setup will continue and install MDAC 2.7, (Microsoft Data Access Components) if needed. IFTF will then be installed and for the choice, "install just for me" or "everyone", click everyone. Finally, the security for the folder Krouwer Consulting should be set to give full control to users.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

The program has the software requirements of the .net framework which has minimum hardware requirements of a Pentium 90 MHz system with 32 MB of RAM or the minimum RAM required to run the operating system, whichever is higher.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

The program has the software requirements of the .net framework, which are:

the operating system must be Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or later IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to compatibility issues with Windows 98, Windows 2000 or XP is now required. (The installation details for Windows 98, which is no longer supported are described here).

The program will automatically install the required components, if needed. These components are included in the files (downloaded or on the CD).

IFTF FAQ

Question - Can I load a project from another site or organization?
Answer - Yes, fault tree and FMEA information is stored as an Access database which may be emailed and placed in the IFTF directory. A process flowchart is an xml file which may also be emailed and placed in the IFTF directory.

Question - Can I install IFTF on more than one computer?
Answer – IFTF is intended for use on one computer. If installed on a different computer, the installation on the first computer should be removed. However, it is permitted to install IFTF on a second computer if that computer is one’s home computer.

Question – I don’t want to create a fault tree. Is it possible to just create process flowcharts and FMEAs?
Answer – Yes. One would create a process flowchart and then add each process step as a BASIC event under the top level event of the fault tree, effectively bypassing the creation of a fault tree. Each BASIC event would be a FMEA.

Question – IFTF uses an Access database. Does this mean I need Access or Microsoft Office? Is anything else needed for process flowcharts?
Answer – No. No additional software is required for IFTF to work. Note that IFTF can export FMEAs to pdf, Word, or Excel files – thus, other software is needed to view these files.

Question - Can IFTF be used in a network?
Answer - IFTF is intended as a stand alone application. A typical use would be in a meeting with a projector. However, one can open project files on a network, provided, one can browse to these files and has permission
